The clumps of grass were then placed in holes drilled in the board.
Then the whole thing was given a coat of thinned PVA to seal it.
Then some putty was laid around the clumps to represent sand drift buildup.

After allowing time to fully dry, thinned PVA was again applied and sand sprinkled over the top,
the excess tipped off and allowed to dry.
This operation was repeated 4 times until I was happy with the coverage.

The launch rail, cradle and cable were scratch built then the rail mounted on the base.
The grass also served to hide the clear support rods under the wings and fuselage framing.
