If it's mini your after...
Then You Can't Get Much More Mini Than This Mini Sub.
Whatho people, welcome back for another slice o' silliness.
Ok, time for the last of the wee bits, that thar minisub thingy.
All 2 & 1/4" of it!.
So first and foremost, the bits that go to make up the wee devil.
A fair few parts to play with so shall we?
Well first of all, the 'real' thing has twin lights, one either side of the nose and as usual, I wanted that in this thing...
Waddaya mean crazy?
*twitch*
Nope, not me!
Ok so taking the left and right main parts, they do got some small holes in to take some tiny clear parts.
This was as good a place to start as any.
So in rough order:
Drill out holes.
Find short length of 2mm aluminium tube.
Glue sides together.
Drill hole.
Fit tube.
Run four lengths of fiberoptic from holes down tube
Secure ends with cyano and trim.
Test lighting.

Sorted so far then.
Fun and games round 2 comin' up...
Interior filled out with epoxy steel to fix and prevent light bleed.
Rather unceremoniously chopped the head and a little bit of shoulders off one of the
spare 1/125th architectural figures I had laying about.
Glued to the approximate location where someone should sit and liberally plastered the matt black on.
While drying, the two large lugs on the clear canopy were removed and the resulting mess polished up.
Canopy fitted, not perfect but at least gives an impression of someone in the office so to speak.
Better than nothing at all.

Okedoke then, next up...
LED fitting using a 6000mcd bright white.
Taking some bits of ever increasing diameter alloy tube and slicing a length or three off, we get a flat temination of pipe where the fiberoptic is.
Then a wider one with a 3mm internal diameter to hold the LED.
Then a final one of larger diameter to form a lip for the LED to fit snug into.
Makes for less light leakage and ensures the main bulk of the light is focused squarely on the fiberoptic ends.

Sweet.
Seams cleaned up and the rest of the parts put in thier respective spots.
And so to the painting lark!
Masked off the canopy and fiberoptic ends with a masking tape/latex liquid combo and primered the whole thing.
Airbrushed a coat or three of an orange red colour mixed from semi-gloss chrome yellow and matt red enamel.
Painted the nose black as it should be.
The fins and the like are I am not sure what colour exactly, dunno if it's silver or white so I split the difference.
White for the fins, silver for the skids.
Added two VERY small drops of clear epoxy glue to the front lights to stand in for a lens.
Lastly gave the whole deal a goodly coat of semi-matt acrylic varnish.

I reckon that will do for the purpose.
And last but by no means least, hook up the LED with a battery and see what we got.

And what we got is summat I reckon I can work with.
Not perfect by any stretch of the imagination but will look pretty sitting under the keel of Seaview methinks.
And that's the lot from this locale for now.
Next up, we back to the big lump of Seaview shaped plastic...oh rapture!
You merry lot go easy now and i'll see ya next time.
