Fill in dem holes!

With That Fiberoptic And Foil Like Stuff.

Well now people, last time we had the main guts of the control room sorted, time for lighting and other fun stuff.
So as noted last time the holes predrilled, all 0.5mm and a lot of 'em there are.
So digging into the FO box and after some fiddling about and plenty of gloop, they were all duly placed and the cieling slapped on.

Now the question of colour is the thing here.
The main ceiling lights are diffuse white LED's so these were given a coating of thinned Tamiya clear yellow to take some of the harshness off 'em.
So to the fiberoptic coloring.

All the strands were installed and fed into plastic and metal tubing to make them all behave and make it easier to mount LED's to power the wee buggers.
One of the end mountings looks like this with a LED prepped in some plastic tube, done so the LED can just slot over the top of the FO ends.

So then, the setup here is for a reason, the top bunch are for the computer wall and the bottom bunch are for instrument lights.
A dab of clear epoxy added to the bunch ends and then given a coat of thinned clear yellow to cut the harsh white light.
Then additional clear colour to make different readout lights on the consoles.
The opposing side done sort of the same way but needed four bunches.
One for the instrument lights and three for the orange/blue/red coloring of the line of lights above that panel by the spiral staircase...

No I have no idea what said panel is but the screen grabs I got show them as such so there ya have it.

So sorted, the LED's fitted and all wired up.
Then the top cover, just some 0.25mm white plasticard backed with foil tape and glued straight on.

Once delt with, some ordinary white paper with foil tape on the back, some folding here and there, some more tape and the lot was sealed in.

So the overall intention.
Lit up all inside but not too bright, fiberoptic stuff lit up likewise but not overdone.
In short, visible all round but not too overpowering.
How did this work out? Judge for yaselves gang!

Well it's pretty much what I had in mind.
Looks brighter in the pics than it actually is and the whole shebang run by a single 9v battery.
Not too shabby methinks!
Well it does all fit with only a minor squeeze up into the hull so winnin' and grinnin' at this stage anyways.
More later.

Go easy you merry lot!
