And from little bits on the big sub...
Time For Little Bits On The Flying Sub.
And we be off again gang.
Well while some things are a gettin' sorted, time for that wee Flying Sub...
Hereinafter referred to as FS-1 to save me typing 'Flying Sub' all the time...
Now this is a wee beauty in itself, smashing little model that could stand on it's own.
So then, for this one I have the Prargrafix photo-etch kit as well which looks like this plus the redoutable destruction sheet.

Nice eh?
So a couple of things it do say on said wordy sheet, that is to trim the pins where the seats fit and the inside moulding where the stand should go.
Thinning out as necessary to fit the PE interior.
All well and good untill I spotted another potential problem fit wise.
The bottom of the FS-1 has a moulding part in the center which makes the underside hatch, looks a bit like this...
The sorta horseshoe shaped bit sticking up in the middle sits about 0.5mm or so above the rest of the moulding.
This means the PE interior will sit up also making the pins the seats fix to that much shorter.
Also make it so the PE interior was only resting on that bit so a tad unstable.
Some plastic had to go so out with the mini-drill and grinder and it was duly levelled off.
So that sorted, destruction sheet given a good read over inbetween swallowing some much needed caffine.
Well not that difficult a job, just a trim fold and fix deal so this was done.
And after much soldering later, we get this...

Think I should mention summat here and assuming the stuff Paragrafix puts out is all the same, NO anealing needed!
On my one, the etched fold lines were more than deep enough for easy folding so left at that.
Well after a good soak and light scrub with cellulose thinners and then an acetone bath to clean it, time for paintwork.
Well simple enough, airbrush with dark grey, dry brush with medium grey, a panel or two picked out in light grey, a dab of silver, a brush of black and that's pretty much it...
Oh, throw in a dab of white and some clear yellow as well.
On top of which, back fill most of the holes with a combo of clear epoxy glue and different Tamiya clear colours and the upshot is this...

Now how nice does that look?
Gotta say, even for for one of my slash and lash jobs, it ain't too shabby.
So then, that done, time to slap on the front kit piece that makes up the windows and the like.
Now as it says on the destruction sheet for the PE set, best to install this part before fitting the PE interior.
Exactly correct as it's damn difficult to fit it afterward.
I did figure that out but left it off anyway in order to fix the PE down to paint it.
It's a bit delicate when built and I just felt better having it attached to summat I could grip.
But that's just me.
Now there could be the question of the clear plastic thickness being less that good enough to see the interior.
A reasonable point but the part in my kit was rather good clarity wise so i'll stick with it, like so.

So that done and seats installed.
Just the pilot to paint, LED's to install, a bit of farting about to do then get this wee beastie together.
Which will all be moderately entertaining in it's own way...
Sorta...
See ya next update gang!
Go easy now.
